Climate
Katra has a humid subtropical climate characterized by hot, humid summers, a heavy monsoon rain phase, and quite cold winters. Because it sits at the immediate base of the foothills, it experiences much higher rainfall than the nearby plains of Jammu, while the main shrine area (Bhavan) situated 14 km uphill stays roughly 5°C to 7°C cooler than Katra town at any given time.
